Campbell River Track and Field Club. Local Vancouver Island. Grass Roots. Long Jump High Jump Discus Running events

The Campbell River Comets Track and Field Club was founded in March 1994 by Vince Sequeira, former 200m bronze medallist at the 1973 Canada Games, and Paul Messinger, a local track and field parent and enthusiast. The track club was started in order to meet the needs of many enthusiastic young athletes in our community. The club continues to provide an opportunity for children, youth, and adults to develop their skills in track and field.

Starting with just 30 eager members in 1994, the club quickly grew a dedicated group of athletes. Many of our members have gone on to represent Zone 6 at the BC Summer Games and compete at various National Youth Meets.

The Campbell River Comets Track & Field Club is open to athletes of all ages, from 10 to adult. Most of the competitive events we attend focus on the JD 10-14 years (Jr. Development) category, while our older athletes (Youth, and Junior) compete in their respective age categories at events across BC and beyond.

Throughout the season, there are several JD meets within the Vancouver Island circuit, all listed in our club handbook and on this website. Additionally, there are provincial-level meets for our more advanced athletes, also featured on our website.

As the years go by, we’re excited to continue developing talented athletes and inspiring the next generation to represent Campbell River proudly on the provincial track and field stage.
